The Full Story
Growing up, I was always the person those around me turned to for advice, support and guidance. I had a natural ability to empathize with others and help them through their struggles. It wasn't until later in life that I realized the profound impact my childhood experiences had on my desire to make a positive difference in the world.
As a Child of Deaf Adults (CODA), I witnessed firsthand the struggles that my family and the Deaf & wider community faced. Deprivation, discrimination, and injustice are all too common (not only for Deaf people), and I have seen the toll they take. Throughout my life I've witnessed resilience and strength, persistence & courage at those who refused to become victims. I was one of those who refused to give up for what I believed in. Later, Ayurveda helped me understand that clear perception, a thirst for understanding & inability to accept injustice are common character traits of someone with my particular Prakriti (true nature).
These experiences instilled in me a deep sense of empathy and a desire to empower others to learn, to understand, to heal & to grow. I knew from a young age that I wanted to make a positive difference in the world, but it wasn't until I began exploring the world that everything came together and I was led to my true purpose.
Over the years, I tried my hand at various professions, from sign language communication, a role I had since childhood, to teaching, to social work & educational planning for children and young people with special needs, to fitness training, to hospitality & retail. Each one taught me valuable lessons and helped me develop the skills, experience and knowledge which weave together to create me as I am, today. I am a firm believer that everything is happening for the greater good, and not one experience is a waste of time, no matter how it seems. Sometimes we have to surrender to the bigger picture that we cannot see just yet. I follow the direct path of spirituality using life’s experiences to learn, understand, heal, grow and become who I truly am.

I’m also teaching & sharing Life-Skills, English, Yoga & Ayurveda to create life opportunities for disadvantaged children, young people and women in India. This is what living Ayurveda & Yoga means to me.
My own life journey has been challenging, and I can honestly say that if I hadn’t be led to the wonder sciences of Ayurveda & Yoga, I would be a very different women. I was living fast, burning out (more than once), suffering allergies, arthritis, anxiety, panic attacks, stress related IBS (constipation, bloating), eczema, I was totally lost & overwhelmed in the minefield of health information in the public forum, I didn't know which way to turn. Ayurveda was the light bulb moment, I realised there was another way, and finally understood what I had been searching for. To quote my amazing teacher Doctor Arun Sharma, ‘Ayurveda is the science of common sense’ and it really is, I love seeing the faces of my students and clients when their light gets switched on. This is the best part of my work firing up your consciousness. Gaining clarity or switching the light on was the first step towards healing my poor health and it is for you too.
There is something truly magical, as well as highly scientific about Yoga & Ayurveda that transforms us on a deep level, without us even realizing, we just need to make a commitment, surrender a little, and persevere. There will be struggles, that is life, but as long as we keep on keeping on, we will move through. I clearly understand that my role is to take care of the body-mind, and the soul will do the rest.
