Inner Wisdom Retreat
India 2-8th October 2024

An evolutionary journey into your soul-self in the sacred, healing mountains of Himachal Pradesh, North India.

About this retreat

This retreat happens at an incredibly auspicious time in the Hindu calendar, Navaratri - the 9 nights of the Goddess Durga, and our evolutionary journey will be rooted in our embodying our divine feminine or shakti as we know it within the Vedic traditions of Yoga, Ayurveda & Tantra. You will be guided through a physical, mental & spiritual process, so that you are able to align & attune with your soul-nature, face your fears & access your own hidden, unique gifts. We will have the blessing to visit one of the Shakti Peeth in the area and receive blessings from the Mother Goddess herself during this special time.

We will practice Yoga every morning in the spacious Yoga Shala, and then eat a delicious home breakfast in the open dining area among nature. Your days can be spent exploring, and there are some trips & orientation included, learning about Ayurveda (the science of life), meditating in the gardens or around the mountain, shopping for beautiful Tibetan & Indian trinkets, visiting local temples, taking a holy dip in the waterfall, experiencing a soothing Ayurvedic massage or other treatments or simply wandering around soaking up the amazing, healing energy of this wonderful place - which is my favourite thing to do in this heavenly place. You will also have the opportunity to have a consultation with Dr Arun Sharma, Ayurvedic Physician of Ayuskama Ayurveda Clinic, teacher, mentor & most amazing doctor -  Dr Sharma will be able to advise you on preventative health practices and any health issues you may have,  and they types of Ayurvedic treatment that is suitable for you.

Your Facilitator

Laura Brine, Founder of Mango Wisdom Wellness Ayurveda & Yoga

Laura was born in the UK, dreaming of Mother India. She finally found her home in India after many years of travel & work throughout South America, Australasia, Asia & the Middle East.  At the core of all she does is her heart work, a small project in Goa where she creatively supports & empowers disadvantaged children, young people & women with education, housing & sustainable business. This is what living Yoga & Ayurveda is to her.

Laura’s journey with Yoga began around 2004 with asana-based, gym-yoga classes to balance out her intense physical work-outs (Laura is also a qualified fitness trainer). She had no idea that it would transform her entire life and state of being.

In 2016 she undertook 500 hours of Yoga Teacher Training in India and through this program, she discovered Yoga’s sister science, Ayurveda (science of life). Yoga (science of self) & Ayurveda combine to make a complete health system, it is a health framework that surpasses any other, and is thought to be the oldest living health system. She describes her first meeting with Ayurveda as switching the light on. She now joyfully observes her students on their Yoga Teacher Training, 1:1 counseling sessions, retreats or other courses & workshops having similar light-bulb moments when she shares the powerful, organic wisdom of Yoga & Ayurveda.

As a life-long knowledge seeker, she has spent time learning about Tibetan Buddhism at Kopan Monastery in Nepal where she was a student  & volunteer, Hinduism &  Islam while empowering women in Saudi Arabia, along with Tantra & other Vedic philosophies and blends the life-learning into all she does.

Laura studied Health Promotion at Middlesex University in London for 3 years and works with her own unique combination of Health Promotion and the holistic frameworks of Yoga & Ayurveda, she is a passionate & authentic champion for individual & society wellness, and believes that our own journey with the self is at the root of all we do, and who we are in the world.

The Location - Dharamshala

The sacred resting place

Dharamshala - the resting place, nestled in the foothills of the magnificent Duladhar Mountain range, you will find yourself immersed in a land of beauty & culture. The Hillstation of McLeodganj, also known as Little Lhasa because of the huge population of Tibetan's living in exhile, including His Holiness the Dalai Lama, is a delightful 15-20 minute walk from where we will stay. There you will find a harmonious blend of Tibetan Buddhist & Hindu culture. Here there are plenty of shops and restaurants for you to experience. With plenty of nature to explore, waterfalls, mountains, temples, monasteries & sacred hot springs you will experience the perfect recipe of spirituality & adventure.

Where you will stay
Your Home from Home

I have chosen a gorgeous homestay & guest house that is very close to my heart, since this is where I stayed when my journey with Ayurveda began 8 years ago. Nestled in the foothills between Dharamkot Village and Bhagsu Nag Village, you will be surrounded by love & nature. The first time I stayed here with the Rehla family I felt immediately at home. The family are warm & welcoming, and I am sure you will feel as at home, everyone does! The spacious rooms have all you need for your stay, they are well appointed with comfy double bed, seating area & table, balcony or terrace, kettle, en-suite hot water bathroom, heater for those chilly mountain evenings (on request) & stunningly picturesque views.
